Tennis Has Much Success at Bethany Invitational

Lindsborg, Kan.-The fall tennis season got underway as both the Sterling men's and women's teams participated in the Bethany Invitational. The tournament was a draw format where the players were split into pools, placed, and then competed in a double elimination tournament from that point. On the men's side, pools were A through F. The women played pools A through G. Several players brought home individual titles and several more placed in the top three for both the men's and women's teams.

On the women's side, Brooklynn Kuhn and Camila Castro Medina took home 1st place in their divisions. Kuhn competed in the E draw and Castro competed in the F draw. Sterling tennis newcomer Elizabeth Sneed placed 3rd in the " draw, having just one singles loss in bracket play.

The men placed in every draw they had from A through F. Leading the way were Zack Hash and Kamran Jones with 1st place finishes in the D and F draws respectively. Angel Marin in his second semester with the team earned 2nd place in the C draw. And a trifecta of Warriors finished in 3rd place in their respective draws. Third-place finishers were Antonio Parades in the A draw, Pedro Felipoff in the B draw, Jayce Blede in the E draw. Santiago Quintero also found success taking just one loss on the day and winning the Consolation title in the D draw. The only difference between Quintero's loss and the others is that his loss was in the first match pushing him to the consolation bracket. Felipoff and Hash also earned a 1st place finish in the B draw doubles competition.

Both the men and the women will compete on September 15-16 in the Fall KCAC Championships in Lindsborg, Kan.
