Cameron earns Academic All-American honors

Sterling College football team's standout defensive lineman, Flin Cameron, has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-American First Team for the third time in his career as a Warrior, recognizing his dual achievements in academics and athletics.

Cameron, who hails from Canberra, Australia, has had an impressive season with the Warriors, registering a total of 61 tackles, including 23 solo tackles and 6.5 sacks. His ability to affect the game was evident, amassing 42 sack yards and averaging 5.5 tackles per game, a testament to his prowess on the field. Beyond his physical attributes of standing 6'2" and weighing 232 pounds, Cameron's academic performance in Sport Management has also been outstanding, earning him this prestigious accolade.

"This award signifies my hard work and dedication to my education over the last four years," Cameron said. "It's one thing to make plays on the football field but to be successful in the classroom is important to me too. It also serves as a reminder of how far I have come as a player and student. I arrived at Sterling with a below-average GPA, but I worked my way into several 4.0 semesters and have stayed there ever since."

Throughout his senior year at Sterling College, Cameron's performance on and off the field has epitomized the spirit of a true Warrior. His dedication and hard work are reflected in his achievements, making him a role model for both current and future athletes.

"I have enjoyed my time at Sterling, and the football program was a large part of that. Although I may not have always seen the on-field success I wanted, being part of this program and surrounded by great guys has made this experience enjoyable. Ironically, football was the only thing I wanted to do here, and grades fell in second place, but over my career, I have come to realize I have greater potential than football alone. That has been the most valuable lesson I've taken from football," Cameron said.
