OFFICIAL HOME OF STERLING COLLEGE ATHLETICS

Football Facilities Page

Smisor Stadium, the beneficiary of a $1.2 million dollar renovation in the summer of 2008 is the home of the Sterling College Warrior football program. With a seating capacity of 3,000, Smisor is a great setting for college football and a dominant landmark on the Sterling College campus. Smisor Stadium also houses the football conference room, football locker room and coaching offices.

With the renovation, the field is now a perfectly crowned natural fescue/ bluegrass blend guaranteed to add to the aesthetics of the facility. An underground sprinkler system was also recently installed. The irrigation project was made possible through lead gifts from Anna Smisor-Smith and the Sterling Rotary.

The Smisor Stadium project also included a complete renovation of the press box, which more than doubled its size; there are four separate seating areas across the facility. There are two main press areas that are capable of comfortably seating ten persons each and equipped with radio hookups and wireless internet.

One of the biggest changes you'll notice at Smisor Stadium, is the new state-of-the-art scoreboard on the south side of the football field. The new scoreboard features a LED display screen for announcments and animations through the game.

Another change in recent years was the way the Warriors enter the field. Instead of entering near the north end zone, the Warriors will take the field through the tunnel running between the stands, surrounded by the faithful Sterling Warriors' fan base.

Sterling utilizes the Edwards Weight Center for in-season and off-season workouts. The weight center is located on the north side of the Gleason Physical Education Building. The center is named in memory of two brothers who were SC athletes in the early days of the college - Edward Edwards and John Edwards. The facility was made possible by a lead gift from Ed's son Harold "Gus" Edwards and his wife Evelyn. Gus played football for SC from 1935 to 1938, captaining the team in 1937.
