Early Scoring Leads to Run-Rule Win

Sterling, Kan. – Warrior baseball continues to hit well finishing with another double digit scoring output against Central Christian College. Sterling walked it off in the run rule as they won 11-1 on a cold and blustery afternoon.

Sterling scored 3 in the first and 4 in the second before tacking on runs in the third inning, sixth inning, and the final two runs in the eighth. Central scored their lone run in the fifth.

Sterling pitched just two pitchers in the nonconference win. Troy Sackett got the start going four and a third innings giving up one run on three hits, with four walks and four strikeouts. He left the game before he qualified for the win. Coming in relief was Ryan Speer, who got the win. Speer pitched the final three and two thirds innings giving up four hits and had three strikeouts.

Tyler Gates, Andrew Dutro, Nicholas Keller, and Nate Heffline each had two RBIs and Luis Morales added another. Gates and Heffline each recorded doubles, and Eduardo Tarafa and Eric Beyale each had a stolen base. Dutro came up with a big play turning a leadoff double by the Tigers into an out at third, starting a relay as Central Christian's, Justin Taylor, tried to stretch a leadoff double into a triple and was thrown out easily at third.

Sterling improves to 9-4 this season and will play four games between Friday and Saturday this weekend against Dakota State (SD). The first day of each double header is scheduled to start at noon.
