Lady Warriors Fall Just Short Against Braves

Sterling, Kan. – The Lady Warriors played one of their best matches of the season and a few miscues were the difference in the match. Sterling was in control in each of the first two sets, at least for a while before Ottawa gained some momentum and was able to close out each of those sets. The third set, Sterling found themselves down seven early, but fought their way back for a two point loss. Sterling took a three set loss 25-23, 25-22, 25-23. This Ottawa team was receiving national votes no more than one week ago.

Opportunities at the net were passed around. Aliya McClanahan had 13 kills and hit .444 to lead the Warriors at the net. She also added 3 block assists. The other middle, Chloe Schmidt, had 9 kills. Morgan Pellegrino had a solid day with 8 kills and 4 block assists. Alyssa Gregory had 7 kills that seem to come at just the right time most of the afternoon. Aubrey Young put in another solid performance with 33 assists and 11 digs. Makenna Linden led the back row with 16 digs once again.

There are two more matches left in the regular season. Sterling plays at home Wednesday night against Bethany College and travels to the University of Saint Mary next Saturday to close out the regular season.
