ITF Season Comes to a Close at KCAC Championships

Omaha, Neb. – The indoor track and field season has come to a close for the Warrior Track team. It was a very successful way to end the season with several members of the team achieving personal or season bests at the meet.

Maurice Gray on the men's side placed 6th in the Triple Jump with a jump of 13.91m (45' 7.75") recording 3 points for the Warrior team and recording a personal record. He also placed 6th in the Long Jump finishing at 6.60m (21' 8"), scoring another 3 points for Sterling. Cedric Wilson finished in 8th place in the High Jump climbing to a height of 1.84m (6' 0.5") and scored 1 point with his finish. Jacob Bauman threw for a distance of 11.54m (37' 10.5") in the shot put but did not place, and Delco Gonzalez competed in the Long Jump as well.

Jessa Lee improved on her season-best 800m by 4 seconds with a time of 2:36.65. Sydney VanHorn knocked 9 seconds off of her best mile this season and finished with a time of 6:29.83. Janie Perico set a new personal best in the mile as well with a time of 6:08.09, crushing her old PR by 29 seconds. Makenzie Hadley threw for a personal best as well in the shot put with a distance of 8.06m (26' 5.5").

"This week was another step in the right direction," said Head Coach Mason Blevins. "We are excited to continue to build and work with this young team and are excited to see the strides we make in the outdoor season."

With the conclusion of the indoor season, the team will turn their attention to a 6-week training block to prepare for the outdoor season. Outdoor meets for Sterling will start on March 23rd.
