Sterling sweeps Southwestern on Senior Day
Sterling College women's tennis swept Southwestern College 7-0 at home for Senior Day on Friday, April 18.
The Lady Warriors started by clenching the doubles point with a win in the no. 2 and 3 doubles play.
Hannah Giordanelli and Greta Fankhauser represented Sterling in no. 1 doubles, losing 6-4 to Alexis Kersten and Natalie Blaufuss. Seniors Brooklynn Kuhn and Camila Castro Medina paired up to win the no. 2 doubles match 6-1 against Rosennscar Elie and Adin Bruna. In no. 3 doubles, Southwestern forfeited due to lack of players.
Sterling continued to keep things rolling in singles play with Alzarez setting the tone with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Kersten in no. 1 singles play. Margaritov represented the Lady Warriors in no. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Blaufuss.
In the no. 3 singles match, Castro Medina took on Elie winning 6-2, 6-2. Kuhn represented Sterling in the no. 4 singles contest where she beat Bruna 6-0, 6-0. The Lady Warriors claimed forfeiture wins over Southwestern in the no. 5 and 6 singles matches.
The Lady Warriors will begin KCAC Playoffs on April 23. Conference contests are still being played to determine opponent, place and location of the match.
