Sterling College falls to UA Fort Smith

Sterling College women's tennis traveled to Fort Smith, Ark. on Wednesday, March 19 to take on NCAA DII University of Arkansas – Fort Smith. The Lady Warriors fought hard but came up short, 6-1.

In doubles play, Nadia Margaritov and Giovana Gaboardi represented Sterling in the #1 match against Arianna Debernardo and Taylor Conway where they fell 6-4 to the Lady Lions. In the #2 doubles match, Greta Fankhauser and Hannah Giordanelli faced Sofia Tominaga and Antonietta Bocache, losing 6-2. Camila Castro Medina and Ana Alvarez faced Gracie Pereff and Isabella Serrano in the #3 doubles contest where they lost 6-2.

Alvarez bounced back singles play getting the 8-3 win over Debernardo in the #1 singles match. Unfortunately, that was the only win of the day for the Lady Warriors. Margaritov faced Conway in the #2 contest where she fell 8-2.

Gaboardi took on Tominaga in the #3 singles match where she lost 8-3. In the #4 contest, Giordanelli fell to Bocache 8-3. Fankhauser represented the Lady Warriors in the #5 singles match where she lost to Serrano 8-1. The #6 singles match saw Brooklyn Kuhn taking on Pereff where fought hard but ultimately lost, 8-4.

The Lady Warriors will be back in action Thurdsay, March 20 in Clarksville, Ark. where they will take on NCAA DIII University of the Ozarks.
