Tennis Takes Care of Business at Evangel

Springfield, Mo. – Both the men's and women's tennis teams got one step closer to securing their final spots in the KCAC Conference standings Saturday afternoon, each securing another conference win. The Lady Warriors came home with a 7-0 win, and the men took advantage of some early success, and winning the doubles point, to get a 4-3 victory over the Evangel University Valor.

Women

The Lady Warriors won all three doubles matches and swept the Valor in singles as well. Sofia Tominaga in No. 1 singles went into a tie break in her first set before dominating her second set. They were not challenged much in any other set of the match. Sterling walked away from the match without relinquishing a set and won 7-0. Below are the complete results.

The Lady Warriors continue to have an excellent season with a 12-2 overall record and 6-2 in the KCAC. They continue conference play on Monday with another matchup that will affect their conference standing against Bethel College.

Men

The men's team was met with a challenge that came down to Sterling winning the doubles point early on. Sterling won No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and lost No. 3 but secured the doubles point. The top three singles matches were won by Sterling, but Sterling lost singles No. 4-6. The singles matches were highly competitive with one match going to three sets and four matches having at least one set going to seven points or tie break. In the end, Sterling finished with the 4-3 win. Below you will find complete results.

The Warrior men continue to perform well in the KCAC and improve to 6-2 in the KCAC. They have another tough test on Monday against (RV) Bethel College to see where they may end up in the final KCAC standings. Just two matches remain in both the men's and women's regular season.
