Lady Warrior Tennis Starts Spring Season with a Bang

Baldwin City, Kan. – The Lady Warriors got the spring season going with a hot start against Baker University winning all seven points for the day.

Sterling earned the doubles point by wining in both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches. Sofia Tominaga and Ana Paola Alvarez Diaz won No. 1 doubles 6-1, and Nadia Margaritov paired with Rachel Carlson won No. 2 doubles 6-1 as well earning the doubles point.

Sterling won No. 6 doubles by default. The other five matches were dominated by Sterling. Their scores are as follows:
Tominaga – 6-0, 6-0
Alvarez – 6-0, 6-1
Margaritov – 6-0, 6-0
Carlson – 6-1, 6-2
Natalia Antkowiak – 6-0, 6-0

The Lady Warriors are much improved from last season and have the chance for a top third or better finish in the KCAC standings. This can be seen by the competitiveness on the court as last year's No. 1 singles player is now playing No. 4 singles.

The Warrior men's and women's teams make their home debut on Friday against Hastings College. Currently, the start time for the women is 11 am with the men to follow.
