Historic Day for Lady Warriors at Fall KCAC Tennis Championships

Lindsborg, Kan. – It was an historic day for Warrior tennis at the 2023 Fall KCAC Tennis Championships Saturday. Every one of the women's singles players made it to the semifinals, as did all but one of the women's doubles teams. The women brought home 2 individual champions, 1 second place finisher, and 3 third place finishers.

In #1 singles, Sofia Tominaga took an overtime loss in the semifinals (9-8) and won convincingly in the 3rd place match 8-4. Her only loss came to the eventual champion in #1 singles. Tominaga was the 2 seed in this bracket.

In #2 singles, Ana Paola Alvarez Diaz took home the individual championship. She started the day as the 4 seed in her bracket. She overcame the #1 and #3 ranked players in convincing fashion on the way to her victory. Her closest match was an 8-6 victory in her first match.

Sterling took first in #3 singles as well. Nadia Magaritov entered the tournament as the #4 seed and defeated the #3 seed for the championship. Her closest match was the championship match at 8-6.

In #4 singles, Rachel Carlson finished 3rd in her bracket. Her only loss came in the semifinals to the eventual champion. Carlson came into the tournament with as the 5 seed. She ended up winning the 3rd place made with a very convincing 8-1 score.

Camila Castro Medina represented Sterling in the #5 singles bracket. Castro started as the 4 seed and lost in the semifinals. She bounced back for a 3rd place 8-4 win over the 6 seed.

Natalia Antkowiak played in the #6 singles bracket. She came into bracket as the 2 seed and did not lose until the championship match to the overall #1 seed. She outscored her first two opponents 16-1 before falling in the finals.

Tominaga and Alvarez played #1 singles for the Warriors and finished in 2nd place after being seeded 5th to start the tournament.

Number 2 doubles was played by Margaritov and Carlson. They had a 4 seed to start the tournament and that is how they placed as well.

Brooklynn Kuhn and Elizabeth Sneed played 3# doubles and had the 4 seed to start. They ended up losing their first match 7-6 in overtime.
