SC Falls Just Short Against Bethel

North Newton, Kan. – Lady Warrior soccer gave Bethel almost everything they could handle on a cool, wet evening in North Newton. Sterling dropped the KCAC matchup to the Threshers 3-2.

Sterling got the scoring started with a Jessica Gautreau goal in the 31st minute of play. Two late goals by the Threshers, however, gave them a 2-1 advantage at the break.

Sterling played much more aggressively in the second half giving them more opportunities on goal. Before Sterling was able to bookend the night with goals, Bethel tacked on what proved to be a much needed security goal in the 64th minute. Emma Bartha was able to make it a one-score game with 4 minutes left to play in regulation by capitalizing on a PK opportunity.

The Warriors ran out of time on their comeback run and lost to Bethel 3-2. Shaylee Gibbs is the goalie of record and recorded 7 saves in the contest. Sterling is now 4-13 (1-11) with one final game remaining. The Warriors take on Ottawa University on Saturday at noon for Senior Day. The recognition for all of the soccer seniors will happen between the men's and women's contests.
