
Clason named KCAC Player of the Year, Heskamp named third team
WICHITA, Kan. — The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2024-25 KCAC Women's Basketball all-conference teams and award winners. Student-athletes were selected for all awards by vote of the KCAC head women's basketball coaches.
Kansas Wesleyan University took home the regular-season conference title with an 18-4 record in conference play, as part of a 22-6 overall record. Ryan Showman, the Coyotes' head coach, was named the Lonnie Kruse Coach of the Year by his peers.
Korynn Clason of Sterling College was named the KCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year. Clason leads the conference with 22.0 points per game (ranks fifth in the NAIA) on an efficient 48.6% from the field, 45.3% from three-point range, and 87.2% from the free-throw line.
Taylor Jackson of Friends University was named the KCAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. Jackson leads the conference in rebounds per game (12.4/game; tied for 12th in the NAIA), with 7.8 of those rebounds per game coming on the defensive end. Jackson also leads the KCAC in blocks per game (2.3), which is good for a tie for 12th in the NAIA.
Ali Kamies of Evangel University earned the KCAC Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Year honor. Kamies leads the Valor with 13.8 points per game (11th in the KCAC), field goal percentage (48.9%), and steals (1.8/game; tied for 8th in the KCAC).
Dominique Schutte of Ottawa University was named the KCAC Women's Basketball Freshman of the Year. Schutte averages 11.6 points per game and 2.9 rebounds per game. Schutte led all freshman in the KCAC in scoring, was the Braves' second leading scorer in total points, and led the KCAC in total three-point field goals made (77).
