Lady Warriors secure victory over Bethel College

In an impressive display of skill and strategy, the Sterling College Lady Warriors outplayed the Bethel College Lady Threshers with a 73-60 victory on Wednesday, Feb. 3, in North Newton, Kan. The Lady Warriors were led by a stellar performance from Korynn Clason, who scored a game-high 34 points, bolstering her team's offense throughout the night.

The first half concluded with the Lady Warriors holding a promising 37-30 lead against the Lady Threshers. As the game progressed, Sterling's offense continued to fire on all cylinders, maintaining their lead and eventually sealing the win.

Alongside Clason, key contributions came from Kali Briar, who added 12 points and eight rebounds, and McKenna Vogl, who contributed 11 points and three rebounds. The trio also chipped in two steals each, causing major disruptions to the Threshers in what turned out to be a standout performance for the Lady Warriors.

One of the most pivotal aspects of Sterling's success was their ability to capitalize on turnovers, turning 20 turnovers by Bethel into 20 crucial points. Sterling showcased adept shooting, hitting 46% from the field and 33% from three-point range, which starkly contrasted with Bethel's 36% field goals and 29% from beyond the arc. The Lady Warriors also dominated the paint, scoring 43 points inside compared to the Threshers' 26, thanks in large part to Vogl's aggressive play.

Other outstanding performances include Bailey Young who led the Lady Warriors in rebounding with eight and Alex Bearup who led Sterling with four assists against her undergraduate alma mater.

The Lady Warriors are now looking ahead to their next challenge, as they face Oklahoma Wesleyan University (8-9, 10-12) on Saturday, Feb. 8, in Bartlesville, Okla. With their current record standing at 14-9 overall and 10-7 in the league, the Lady Warriors will seek to carry this momentum forward into their upcoming fixtures.
