Sterling College Lady Warriors dominate Moundbuilders

In a compelling showdown at Gleason Center on Jan. 18, 2025, the Sterling College Lady Warriors displayed a commanding performance against the Southwestern College Moundbuilders.
The game concluded with the Lady Warriors emerging victorious with a final score of 88-62, enhancing their season record to 11-7 overall and 7-5 in the conference.

From the outset, Sterling College took an early lead, finishing the first half ahead at 48-37. This momentum was sustained throughout the game, buoyed by standout performances from their leading scorers. Korynn Clason was phenomenal on the court, scoring 27 points and three steals, while Alissa Heskamp added a solid 17 points to the team's tally and added three steals and two assists to the mix.

Their efforts were complemented by Bailey Young, who not only secured eight rebounds but also managed three steals, demonstrating the Lady Warriors' defensive strength. Moreover, McKenna Vogl contributed significantly with five rebounds, three steals and three assists, alongside Evie Gill who played a crucial role in facilitating the team's play with three assists and two steals.

As a team, Sterling dominated the points in the paint, scoring 54 to Southwestern's 24. They also capatilized on turnovers, causing 31 and turning it into 37 points helping the Lady Warriors maintained a substantial lead throughout, ultimately sealing the victory by a significant 26-point margin. This win marks an important momentum shift for the team as they prepare for back half of conference play.

Sterling's next match up is against McPherson College Bulldogs (0-12, 0-18) in McPherson, Kan., on Jan. 22, 2025. The Warriors look to build on their current form and continue their winning spree in upcoming games.
