Warriors Nearly Break Century Mark in Final Home Game

Sterling, Kan. – The Lady Warrior's offense was free flowing Wednesday night in their final home game of the 2023-24 season. It was a good enough performance that the Warriors were able to cruise to runaway 97-61 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan University.

Sterling was dominant in every aspect of the game. They came out and scored 25 points in the first quarter and took an 8 point lead. Korynn Clason was once again the focal point offensively for the first three quarters. As a team, Sterling shot nearly 60%.

The second quarter was slightly less dominant, but effective nonetheless. Sterling increased their lead to 14 points heading into halftime. They were a perfect 15 for 15 at the free throw line in the first half, which helped them to increase the lead over OKWU.

The final two frames were all Sterling. They scored 27 points in each the third and fourth quarters, while giving up just 14 and 18 respectively.

Clason led all scorers with 32 points and gathered 8 rebounds on 8 of 12 shooting and 16 for 17 at the free throw line. Bailey Young secured another double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Alissa Heskamp and Kali Briar also scored in double figures with 17 and 12 points, respectively.

As a team, Sterling shot 54% from the field and 86% from the free throw line. Sterling outrebounded OKWU 36 to 30 and the teams were equal in turnovers.

The Lady Warriors close out the regular season on Saturday at Bethel College. The Lady Warriors need a win to secure a spot in the KCAC tournament. A win will guarantee their place in the postseason tournament. They will have either the 7th or 8th seed with a win, depending on the outcome of the Ottawa University game.
