Lady Warriors Dominate at Home; Keep Postseason Hopes Alive

Sterling, Kan. – The Lady Warriors had a dominant performance over the York University Panthers on Saturday night. When playing in York, it took a record performance by Korynn Clason to edge out a three point victory. It was a completely different story in the Gleason Center as the Warriors took care of business early to cruise to an easy 92-60 victory, proving this team is much improved and playing much better than earlier this season.

Sterling completely dominated the first half winning the first quarter 22-11, and the second quarter 26-6. They took a 48-17 lead into the locker room at halftime. They have seen a lot of success in recent games with their three-quarter and half court traps, using their length in the front to get deflections and create steals.

The third and fourth quarters were much more evenly matched, but the damage had already been done. Sterling was able to cruise to a 32 point win, also allowing everyone to come off the bench and giving the opportunity to recognize our Seniors the way they deserve.

Clason led all scorers once again with 23 as she continues to lead the KCAC in scoring and is in the top 10 nationally. Kali Briar had a standout game with 20 points and 6 assists. Freshman Bailey Young continues to improve and be an important part of the Warriors as she narrowly missed another double-double with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Sterling won all the major team stats categories as well.

The Lady Warriors have a long week on the road traveling to Avila University on Wednesday and Evangel University on Saturday. You can catch both games on the Sterling College Sports Network.
