
Sterling College set to host NCCAA Central Region Softball Championship
Sterling College is set to host the NCCAA Central Region Softball Championship at Sterling High School on Monday and Tuesday, May 12-13.
"We are very excited to be able to host the NCCAA Central Region Tournament. It will be a great couple days of some high-level softball right here in Sterling," athletic director Justin Morris said.
Three teams will be traveling to Sterling, Kan. to compete in the four-team, double elimination regional tournament. As the host, Sterling College claims the no. 1 seed. The Lady Warriors finished the regular season with a record of 31-15, going 19-8 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The Lady Warriors will take on the no. 4 seed, Mission University from Springfield, Mo. on Monday, May 12 at 2:30 p.m. The Patriots went 15-35 this season including a 4-16 record in the American Midwest Conference.
The no. 2 seed goes to Mid-America Christian University out of Oklahoma City, Okla. The Evangels went 27-18 overall and 22-10 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
They are set to face the no. 3 seed, Southwestern Christian University out of Bethany, Okla. on Monday, May 12 at noon. The Eagles went 28-24 on the year, including a 17-19 record in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The winner of the tournament advances to the NCCAA Softball World Series held in Grapevine, Texas on Monday through Wednesday, May 19-21 at the Oak Groves Softball Complex where they will compete in an eight-double elimination tournament for the championship.
A livestream will be available to purchase for $7 per game or $20 for the entire tournament HERE.
There will be no gate at the ball fields and members of the community are encouraged to come out and support. There will be concessions.
