Green hits the cycle in game two of double header against the Aggies

Game 1
 
Sterling College traveled to Oklahoma Panhandle State University to play in a double header on Friday, Feb. 14 where they split, losing game one and dominating game two.
 
OPSU opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two ground outs which lead to two runs.
They added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Sterling College Warriors committed an error, Trinity Higgins grounded out, and Haeley Vasquez doubled to center field, each scoring one run. Giving the Aggies a 6-0 lead at the top of the third inning.
 
Kassedy Midgley pitched three innings in relief for Sterling College Warriors. The hurler allowed one hit and zero runs while, striking out three and walking one. Allie Olivarria opened the game for the Lady Warriors. The pitcher gave up five hits and five runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Marin Jacobs stepped in the circle first for Oklahoma Panhandle State. The hurler surrendered eight hits and four runs (two earned) over the seven-inning stretch, striking out eigth and walking five.
 
Kelly Hirlas and Desiree Perales each drove in one run for Sterling. Bryley Westfahl led Sterling College Warriors with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game. Hirlas, Mariah Cunningham, and Phoebi Waller each stole multiple bases for the Lady Warriors, as a team they ran wild on the base paths, collecting 11 stolen bases for the game.
 
 
 
Game 2
 
In the second game, Madi Green hit for the cycle to carry Sterling College Warriors to a 24-5 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State. Green hit a home run to left field in the second inning, tripled in the fourth inning, singled in the second inning, and doubled in the fifth inning.
 
Sterling got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run.
 
Oklahoma Panhandle State captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first after Vasquez singled to left field, and A. Pettaway singled to right field, each scoring one run.
 
Sterling College Warriors flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring 12 runs on nine hits to take the lead, 13-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Green that drove in three.
 
The Lady Warriors scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the fourth inning. Sam Graham singled, scoring two runs, Green tripled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Mariah Cunningham tripled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and an error scored one run.
 
MacKenzie Viehland began the game for Sterling. The starting pitcher surrendered six hits and five runs over five innings, striking out six and walking three. Cadence Yocom started in the circle for Oklahoma Panhandle State. The starter allowed four hits and six runs (three earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.
 
Sterling College Warriors piled up 19 hits in the game. Graham, Cunningham, Desiree Perales, and Mallory Seidel each collected multiple hits. Hirlas, Cunningham, Mya' Dunn and Westfahl each stole multiple bases as the team amassed 12 stolen bases for the game. Sterling turned one double play in the game.
 
 
Sterling College Warriors will travel to Wayland Baptist Softball for their next game on Saturday, Feb. 15.
