Warriors set new personal bests at KT Woodman

Sterling College track competed in the KT Woodman Classic in Wichita, Kan. on Friday and Saturday, April 11-12. The Warriors saw more qualifying marks for the NCCAA along with new personal bests on both the men's and women's side.

For the men, Cedric Wilson made his season debut in both the high jump and 110m hurdles achieving personal bests in both events. Wilson placed third in the open high jump with an NCCAA qualifying mark of 1.93m (6-4). He also qualified for the NCCAA championships in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.85 to finish 23rd.

Another Warriors in his season debut was Camden Carr. Carr competed in the 400m dash where he ran a time of 55.84 and placed 71st. Tod Mastin also competed in the 400m dash where he finished 82nd with a personal best time of 58.21.

Other runners on the track include Daryen Jefferson who ran a time of 16:54.08 in the 5000m run to finish 68th, and Wesley Brantley who ran a time of 2:20.29 in the 800m run to finish 115th.

In the jumps, Charles Jones and Maurice Gray represented the Warriors well. Jones placed third in the long jump with a leap of 7.10m (23-3.5) and 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 14.96m (49-1). Gray finished 12th in the long jump with a personal best of 7.02m (23-0.5) and 11th in the triple jump with a distance of 13.97m (45-10). Both marks qualifying him for the NCCAA championships.

Blake Robertson was the sole thrower for the Warriors. He placed 16th in the discus with a throw of 45.23m (148-5), 20th in the shot put with a throw of 13.46m (44-2) and 29th in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.42m (126-0).

On the women's side, Janie Perico, Lana Rodriguez and Audrey Blake all competed in the 1500m run placing 73rd, 90th and 91st respectively. Perico ran personal best time of 5:30.89, Rodriguez ran a time of 6:26.07 and Blake was right behind her with a time of 6:49.82.

The Warriors will be back in action at the Kansas Wesleyan Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 18-19 in Salina, Kan.
