Robertson claims National Championship title in weight throw

The Sterling College Warriors traveled to Cedarvillle, Ohio to compete in the NCCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship, Feb. 7-8 and came away with a national champion in the weight throw among other impressive accomplishments. 

Blake Robertson threw a huge personal best 16m (52-6) in the weight throw to win the event. Teammate Malachi Bell also scored points in the event with an eighth place finish, throwing a 14.35m (47-1).

Bell also had an impressive performance in the shot put, where he just missed the podium at ninth place with a mark of 13.19m (43-3.25). 

In the jumps, Trey Dixon and Maurice Gray were able to come away with points in the long jump. Dixon placed third in the event with a jump of 6.83m (22-5) while Gray finished sixth with a mark of 6.58m (21-7.25). 

Gray also competed in the men's triple jump where he placed seventh with a jump of 13.43m (44-0.75).

On the track, Dixon ran a time of 22.86 in the men's 200m dash earning him a 10th place finish. Daryen Jefferson competed in the 5000m run, finishing with a time of 16:58.04 to place 25th.

For the women, Chloe Schmidt threw 10.52m (34-6.25) in the shot put to place 15th.

The Warriors will be back in action next weekend, Feb. 14-15 at the KCAC Indoor Track and Field Championship.
