Warriors take on Evangel

Sterling, KS- The Warrior's hosted Evangel University this past Saturday in a nonconference match. The men and women would fall to Valor tennis in competitive match play.

Women's Tennis vs Evangel University (2-5) L

The Warriors had a hard time getting things going against Valor tennis and competed in difficult matches. In singles No. 1 Rachel Carlson would fall (2-6, 2-6), No. 2 Ana Paola Alvarez Diaz would fall (6-7,2-6), No. 3 Camila Castro Medina would fall (6-3, 3-6, 6-7), No. 4 Brooklynn Kuhn would win (7-5, 6-0), No. 5 Aubrey Anderson would fall (0-6, 4-6), No. 6 Kaylie Fenwick would fall by default.

In doubles, the women were able to come away with the doubles point by sweeping all three matches against Valor tennis. No. 1 Dubs Alvarez and Castro would win (7-6), No. 2 Dubs Anderson and Carlson would win (6-2), No. 3 Dubs Fenwick and Kuhn would win (7-6).

A notable player for the Warriors was Brooklynn Kuhn, a sophomore from Victoria, Kansas. Kuhn played a tough first set of the match then took control in the second set to not let her opponent gain a single game that would lead to a victory for Kuhn.

Men's Tennis vs Evangel University (3-4) L

The Warrior's played in very competitive matches against Valor Tennis that could have gone either way, but, unfortunately, the Warrior's would come up just short. In single's No. 1 Antonio Paredes would win (6-3,6-0), No. 2 Pedro Felipoff would win (6-2, 6-0), No. 3 Angel Marin would win (6-3, 3-6, 6-4), No.4 Esteban Rocha would fall (1-6, 1-6), No. 5 Zack Hash would fall (7-6, 0-6, 0-6), No. 6 Hunter Lee would fall (2-6, 6-4, 6-7).

The men would only win one out of the three matches and would fall short of the doubles point. No. 1 Dubs Paredes and Marin would win (6-3), No. 2 Dubs Felipoff and Rocha would fall (5-7), No. 3 Dubs Blede and Hash would fall (2-6).

A notable player for the Warriors was Pedro Felipoff, a freshmen from Santa Fe, Argentina. Felipoff was able to bounce back from the other day against McPherson and picked up a solid victory for the Warriors.

Warrior Tennis will be hosting Bethel College at home in another conference match Monday April 17, 2023.
