Warrior Tennis Falls to The Braves

Ottawa, Kan.- The Warriors were on the road this past weekend in conference play to take on the Braves of Ottawa University. Unfortunately, both men and women would fall in hard fought matches against Ottawa.

Women's Tennis vs Ottawa University (2-5) L

The women would battle the Braves and fought hard in their matches but would end up falling to Ottawa. In singles No. 1 Rachel Carlson would fall (0-6,0-6), No. 2 Ana Paola Alvarez Diaz would fall (3-6,1-6), No. 3 Camila Castro Medina would fall (2-6, 3-6), No. 4 Brooklyn Kuhn would fall (1-6, 1-6), No. 5 Aubrey Anderson would win (2-6,6-4,10-7), No. 6 Kaylie Fenwick would win by default.

In doubles, the women struggled against the braves and would not get the doubles point. No. 1 Dubs Alvarez and Castro would fall (0-6), No. 2 Dubs Anderson and Carlson would fall (0-6), No. 3 Dubs Fenwick and Kuhn would win by (default).

A notable player for the Warriors is Aubrey Anderson a sophomore from Sterling Kansas. Anderson was the only win for the women against the Braves and was able to go the distance and win in a super tiebreaker for the Warriors.

Men's Tennis vs Ottawa University (2-5) L

The men would play a very competitive Ottawa team but would end up falling to the Braves. In single's No. 1 Antonio Paredes would win (4-6,7-6,6-2), No. 2 Pedro Felipoff would fall (4-6, 1-6), No. 3 Angel Marin would fall (1-6, 2-6), No.4 Esteban Rocha would fall (2-6, 1-6), No. 5 Santiago Quintero would fall (1-6, 4-6), No. 6 Hunter Lee would win (2-6,6-1,10-2).

Going into doubles the Warriors would be dominated by the Braves and would lose the doubles points. No. 1 Dubs Paredes and Marin would fall (3-6), No. 2 Dubs Felipoff and Rocha would fall (3-6), No. 3 Dubs Blede and Hash would fall (1-6).

A notable player for the Warriors is Antonio Paredes a freshman from Coimbra, Portugal. Paredes played in a grudge match and was able to win a crucial second set tiebreaker forcing a third set and won the match.

The Warriors will be on the road to play Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS on Monday, March 27th in a KCAC match.
