
Warriors finish season at KCAC Championships
Sterling College swim closed out their season at the KCAC Swimming & Diving Championships on Feb. 13-15.
For the men, Jared Price had a strong showing throughout the weekend. In the200Y Individual Medley he swam a time of 1:58.65 to place ninth. He also competed in the 200Y freestyle where he finished 10th with a time of 1:46.68. In the 200Y breaststroke, Price swam a 2:15.70 to place 13th.
Jonah Lugo also swam well for the Warriors, finishing 14th in the 200Y butterfly with a time of 2:10.81. In the 100Y butterfly he swam a time of 55.12 to place 19th and in the 50Y freestyle he finished with a time of 24.15 to place 30th.
The duo scored 23 points as a team to finish eighth in conference.
On the women's side, Lana Rodriguez led the charge placing 10th in the 200Y breaststroke with a time of 2:41.91. She also finishing 14th in the 100Y breaststroke, swimming a 1:13.01. Rodriguez also went on to swim a time of 2:26.22 in the 200Y backstroke to place 19th.
Maria Orlandi Genizelli compete in the 500Y freestyle where she finished 22nd with a time of 5:46.47. She also placed 24th in the 200Y freestyle swimming a 2:12.58.
In the 50Y freestyle Campbell Elliott, Allison Reed and Elizabeth McCollom placed 32nd, 34th and 40th with times of 27.79, 27.96 and 30.73, respectively.
McCollom and Orlandi Genizelli also competed in the 100Y backstroke where they placed 25th and 26th with times of 1:11.64 and 1:11.66, respectively.
The Lady Warriors performed well as a team, with multiple relays competing in the finals. In the 800Y freestyle relay, Rodriguez, Reed, Elliott and Orlandi Genizelli placed eighth in the with a time of 8:52.08. The team of Rodriguez, Orlandi Genizelli, McCollom and Elliott swam the 400Y freestyle relay finishing 10th with a time of 4:10.22.
The team of Reed, Rodriguez, McCollom and Elliot swam the 200Y freestyle relay where they finished 10th with a time of 1:52.76. The group also swam the 400Y medley relay and 200Y medley relay finishing 10th in both events with a times of 4:35.10 and 2:04.27, respectively.
As a team, the Lady Warriors scored 88 points to finish 10th in the conference.
