Price, Lugo perform well at Sterling Triangular
Sterling College hosted their triangular meet at the Hutchinson YMCA Friday, Jan. 17. The Warriors finished third as a team with 49 points, just one point behind College of Saint Mary with 50. University of Saint Mary won the meet with 274 points.
On the women's side, Elizabeth McCollom, Lana Rodriguez, Campbell Elliot and Allison Reed started off the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 2:10.57.
Rodriguez won the 100-yard breaststroke swimming a 1:17.65. She raced the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:15.79 to finish third.
Maria L Orlandi Genizelli also competed in the 200-yard freestyle for the Lady Warriors where she placed eighth with a time of 2:21.62.
McCollom and Orlandi Genizelli placed seventh and eighth in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:14.16 and 1:14.56, respectively.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Elliot, Reed and McCollom placed fifth, eighth and ninth with times of 29.12, 29.41, and 31.58, respectively.
Elliot and Reed also competed in the 100-yard freestyle where they placed fourth and sixth with times of 1:02.44 and 1:05.57, respectively.
For the men, Jared Price won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:07.19. He also won the 100-yard breaststroke swimming a personal best time of 1:03.03.
Jonah Lugo swam a 25.06 in the 50-yard freestyle to finish third. He also placed fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.99.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Price and Lugo teamed up with University of Saint Mary athletes Kime Braydon and Adam Orel to win the event with a time of 1:28.67.
