SC Men Lose Final Nonconference Matchup Before KCAC Play Begins

Chickasha, Okla.- The SC men's soccer team finished their match against the Science and Arts Drovers Saturday with a hard loss. They had a final score of 3-8.

The Drovers came out ready to score early in the first period. They had a total of 3 goals within the first 5 minutes of the game. Two out of three of the shots were assisted, one by Cameron Crook to Ifeanyi Godwin and another by Sebastian Boldt to Callum Shepherd.

The Warriors upped their aggressiveness with a few fouls early which culminated in a yellow card by Stefano Cano. Shortly after the yellow by Cano, Cristian Monge scored the Warrior's first goal of the match in the 22'. To end the first half the Drover's scored two more goals on goalie Marcelo Fuentes. At the break Sterling trailed 5-1.

The Drovers took control early in the second half with another strong goal. The Warriors quickly regained their aggressive play on the pitch and took a few shots at the goal before gaining their second goal of the game, now 2-6. Sterling's second goal came off the foot of Daniel Stone who has been playing very will as of late. The Warriors kept up this aggression the rest of the game, but it seemed as if nothing was moving in the direction they hoped. The last goal of the match was in the final minute of regulation by the Warrior's Ibrahim Curtis-Kaduma, assisted by Dinis Pires to conclude the match with a score of 3-8.

The Warriors played two goalies in this match. Starting goalie, Marcelo Fuentes, had a 41.67 save percentage for this match with 12 shots on goal, 5 saves, and allowing 7 goals for being on the field 82:05. Then Sebastian Torres played 7:55, allowing one goal on one attempt.

Next, the Warriors are on the road to face the Bethany Swedes on September 18 at 7:30 pm. It will be the KCAC opener for Sterling.
