Warriors Fall Short After Well-Fought Game Against Nelson

Waxahachie, Texas- The SC men's soccer team fell short against the Nelson University Lions. Within the first ten minutes of the game, there were already two fouls on the Warriors. Little happened within the first 40 minutes. The first goal against the Warrior's goalkeeper, Marcelo Fuentes, was allowed at 41:22 made by the Lion's, Felipe Martinez.

Moments after the 2nd half began, the Warriors were awarded another yellow card. The Lions did not waste any time when they made another goal on Fuentes shortly after the call on Matt Dale. The goal was made by Alejandro Herrera, assisted by Pedro Mattoso. Now the Lions lead 0-2 in the 60th minute of the game. To end the game Fuentes allowed one last goal by Teddy Nkamanyi for a final score of 0-3.

Fuentes defended the goal for all 90 minutes with 6 SOG, 3 GA, and 3 saves creating a save percentage of 50% for that match. Statistically, the Warriors only had one SOG by Floyd Ransom. Leaving the Lions goalie David Beltran with a clean sheet.

Following the game against Nelson, Sterling will be playing Paul Quinn on Monday at 3 pm after the women's game at 1 pm.
