Physical Match Ends in Tie for Warrior Men

Springfield, Mo. – The Sterling men pulled out a tie in a physical match Friday afternoon at Evangel University. This was the first time these two teams met in conference play as Evangel just joined the KCAC this fall. The first conference meeting between these two teams eventually ended in a 1-1 tie.

The battle was a good one between these two teams as they felt each other out early on. Evangel got the upper hand in the 36th minute scoring the first goal of the match. It took the Warriors a considerable amount of time to find an answer, but eventually they did. Sterling's answer came early in the second half on a goal by Juan Sepulveda with the assist coming from Keegan Witbooi. The rest of the game played out with neither team gaining the advantage.

After the tie, Sterling holds firm to fifth place in the KCAC standings with two games to play. The Warriors are 9-5-2 (6-3-2) coming down the stretch. Wednesday, they take on Bethel College, who is currently in sixth place in the standings. Next Saturday, they take on second place Ottawa University in Sterling for Senior Day.
