Sterling comes up short against Oklahoma Wesleyan
On Saturday, Feb. 8 the Sterling College Warriors traveled down to Oklahoma to face a top of the KCAC team, Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Although the Warriors played the Eagles close the first half with both teams knotted up at 34, they were unable to secure the win were unable to secure a win and ultimately fell, 77-63.
The Warriors demonstrated resilience with top scorers Jimmy Causey Jr., Elias Ngoga, and Jayden Garrison each contributing 11 points to the team's total. Additional significant performances included Mooch Austin scoring six points with three rebounds, Monem Abboud with eight points, Julian Smith adding 10 points including a block, and Causey Jr. also securing 5 rebounds and a steal.
The critical moment in the game came with just eight minutes remaining when Oklahoma Wesleyan launched a decisive 13-3 run, putting the Warriors on the defensive and ultimately claiming the victory. This loss brings the Sterling College Warriors to a season record of 12 wins and 12 losses overall, with a 7-11 record in their league. Despite this setback, the Warriors continue to show promising signs of competitiveness and team spirit.
Sterling's next match up will be Wednesday, Feb. 12 in the Gleason Center against Friends University (14-4, 18-6).
