Sterling College Warriors Clinch a Close Victory Over Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes

In a thrilling contest at the Gleason Center on Wednesday, Jan. 29, the Sterling College Warriors edged out the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes with a nail-biting score of 69-66. The Warriors, under the spirited chants of their home crowd, showcased a balanced offensive and defensive game leading them to a well-fought victory.

Sterling came out strong in the first half, setting the tone with a halftime lead of 33-27 behind the efforts of Jayden Garrison who scored 13 of his 19 points in the first half. Mooch Austin took charge in the second half, adding 12 of his total 19 points in the final frame, with big buckets down the stretch to secure the Warrior victory. The Warriors exhibited commendable shooting accuracy, hitting 44% from the field and maintaining a 35% success rate from the three-point line.

Additional contributions came from various team members which kept the momentum in Sterling's favor. Jimmy Causey Jr. grabbed an impressive 10 rebounds, while Julian Smith not only contributed four points but also made his presence felt with five rebounds and two blocks. Damond Daniels rounded up the performance with nine points and three assists, further highlighting the team's depth.

The Sterling Warriros, now standing at a 6-9 conference record and 11-10 overall, look forward to continue their momentum as they face Tabor College (1-14, 2-18) next in Hillsboro, Kan., on Saturday, Feb 1.
