Four Warriors in Double Figures Not Enough Against York

Sterling, Kan. – Four Warriors scored in double figures for Sterling, but it was not enough as York University's scoring pace was too much for Sterling. They fell to the Panthers 94-85 and now have just four games left in the KCAC season. They will likely be on the outside looking in to the KCAC postseason tournament.

The battle was a good one as the game was close for forty minutes. Sterling's largest lead was five points and York never led by more than 12. Sterling lost a couple of key statistical categories that proved costly. They lost the rebounding and turnover battles putting them at a disadvantage.

Through the first half it was close. Ean Heise came out on fire on Senior Day with 11 first half points to lead the way. On the other side of the court, Jaden Henderson created a tough defensive matchup for Sterling as Henderson scored 13 in the first half. Sterling trailed 44-38 at the half.

Mooch Austin came alive in the second half to compliment Heise on offense, but York did the same thing as Henderson stayed consistent throughout, but added some key scoring from Dwight Glover. The Warriors were never able to turn that corner and gain the advantage in the second half and ended with a 94-85 loss.

Heise led the way for Sterling with 21 points. Austin and Jayden Garrison added 18 and 16, respectively. Brandon Doss distributed the ball well earning 7 assists in the game. Chris Drake led Sterling with 6 rebounds in just 12 minutes of game minutes.

Sterling has a big week of travel this week as they travel to Avila on Wednesday and Evangel on Saturday. Statistically, they have not been eliminated from the KCAC tournament, but they will have to do a lot of things right, and get a little help, to get in.
