Warriors Handed 4th Straight Loss by (RV) Kansas Wesleyan

Sterling, Kan. – Kansas Wesleyan University is already a good team, but add to their fire that the last time these two teams played, Sterling upset KWU on their home court during the KCAC Conference tournament and nearly foiled their chances of an NAIA Opening Round birth. Sterling fell behind early and was not able to catch up in an 87-74 loss to one of the two teams tied atop the KCAC standings.

Sterling trailed 7-6 before KWU went on a 12-4 run and put themselves up 9. Every time a comeback started to happen, the Coyotes found a way to put an end to a run. With six minutes left in the first half, Sterling trailed by 14 points, their largest deficit of the first half. In just 4 minutes Sterling cut the lead to 5 before a jumpshot and a pair of threes sent the Coyotes into the locker room with a comfortable 39-26 lead.

Chris Drake got things going for Sterling early in the second half, scoring 11 second half points, many of which came in the first few minutes. Despite their best efforts, the Warriors could not cut into the lead.

Sterling has struggled to find answers over the last handful of games as they have gotten good looks, but struggle to get shots to fall. This is the kind of thing many teams will go through at some point in the season.

Mooch Austin led the way for Sterling's offense with 20 points. Chris Drake put in his best offensive performance with 11 points and 7 rebounds in just 12 minutes of game time. Elias Ngoga dominated the glass with 12 rebounds.

With the latest loss, Sterling has now fallen in 4 straight games, two of those were to the top two teams in the KCAC. The Warriors head to McPherson College on Saturday night to take on the Bulldogs. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
