Sterling -5 McPherson -14

Sterling, Kan.- Sterling College baseball struggled against the KCAC's top team, McPherson College, this week. This being their second game against the Bulldogs, the Warriors fell late in the game, giving McPherson six runs in the final two innings. The 14-5 loss brings the Warrior's record to 3-13 in the KCAC conference.

The Bulldogs took the first run in the second inning after tight defensive plays from both teams in the first inning. The third inning remained scoreless as well, with both teams unable to get runners on base.

The Bulldogs scored two runs in the fourth inning with a home run. The Warriors responded with a single run, made by Elijah Howard. After being walked, Howard advanced to second after Dustin Chartrand reached on a throwing error by the third baseman, then to third on Layne Thacker's walk. Uziel Santos was walked with the bases loaded, giving Howard a free pass home. Unfortunately, the Warriors couldn't plate another run and left the bases loaded.

The Bulldogs made three runs in the fifth inning. The Warriors had one run as well made by Luis Morales. After reaching first on a Bulldog error, Morales stole second, then raced home after Aaron Johnson's single.

Easter pinch ran for Santos. Boomgaarden grounded out to the shortstop allowing Thacker to score. Morales and Speer struck out during their time at bat, wrapping the inning up with a score of 6-3 in favor of the Bulldogs.

McPherson scored two runs in the seventh inning, and the Warriors responded with two runs of their own. Johnson began the attack with a single to right field. Johnson then scored after a double from Howard. Howard advanced to third during a single from Chartrand, and bases filled up as Thacker was hit by the pitch. With two runners in scoring position, Howard scored on a wild pitch before Boomgaarden struck out swinging, ending the inning at 8-5 for the Bulldogs.
