Bio

John Harding came to Sterling College from Cordova, Al. in 2010 as the head volleyball coach. He is currently the longest tenured head coach on staff at SC. He graduated from the University of Alaska with a bachelor’s in physical education in 1991 and earned his Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1998. He most recently became the assistant athletic director for the Sterling College Warriors in the fall of 2025.

In Alaska, Harding was a pastor for ten years and coached the Cordova High School volleyball team for nine of those years, leading his teams to six straight championship match appearances, winning the State Championship three times.

At Sterling, Harding secured his 200th win as head coach for the Lady Warriors during the 2022 season. Over the years he has coach 49 KCAC All-Conference Players, 64 KCAC Scholar Athletes, one AVCA Freshman of the Year, one NCCAA All-American and most recently the team was named the 2024 KCAC Team of Character.

Harding is also the director of Sterling’s Sports Ministry Master’s program. This program is designed to equip coaches and mentors who see their career in sports as an opportunity for ministry and developing future generations of servant-leaders.

He resides in Sterling with his wife and two children.
