Bio

Coach Harding begins his fourteenth season as Sterling College's Head Volleyball Coach in the Fall of 2021. He is currently the longest tenured head coach on staff. At Sterling, Harding has a career record of 206-215. 

Harding secured his 200th win as head coach for the Warriors during the 2022 season. To conclude the 2021 season, the Lady Warriors competed in the NCCAA Central Regional tournament for the first time ever, before falling a match short of the NCCAA National Tournament. 

Sterling received the AVCA Team Academic Award during five of the years Harding has served as Coach and has been named an NAIA Scholar-Team 11 times. 

Harding came to Sterling College from Cordova, Alaska in the spring of 2010. In Alaska Coach Harding was a pastor for ten years and coached the Cordova High School volleyball team for nine of those years, leading his teams to six straight championship match appearances, winning the State Championship three times.

Recently Harding was named director of Sterling’s Sports Ministry Master’s program. This program is designed to equip coaches and mentors who see their career in sports as an opportunity for ministry and developing future generations of servant-leaders.

John and his wife, Piper, live in Sterling. They have two children, Luke and Zoe. Luke is a current Sterling College student and Zoe is a student at the local high school.
