Lady Warriors Falter Against Bethany

Lindsborg, Kan.-- The Sterling College volleyball team traveled to Bethany College for a rigorous match-up on the court. In the five-set match, the Swedes stole the final set, leaving the Warriors to return home with a loss for the night. Their overall record now stands at 14-11 and their KCAC conference record is at 4-8.

It is always tough to win on the road and the Warriors put up a rigorous fight. But it was the Swedes that edged out the Warriors when it was all said and done. The Warriors took the first and fourth sets, while the Swedes took the second, third, and fifth sets to secure their victory. The scores of the sets finished as 26-24, 20-25, 23-25, 25-22, and 12-15.

High numbers were recorded for the Warriors, proving how determined they were against the Swedes. Aliya McClanahan led the attack with 22 kills, the highest total so far of her freshman campaign, followed by Emily Peterson with 15 kills of her own. Peterson hit .375 from the middle in the match. Aubrey Young recorded 48 assists for the Warriors, also a career high mark for Young. The Warriors had a solid back row, as 114 total digs were recorded. Makenna Linden led the way with 23 digs and was closely followed by Lindsey Kauffman with 22 digs.

The Warriors play their final conference game on Nov. 4 at the Gleason Courts against Saint Mary. First serve is at 2 p.m.
