Lady Warrior Soccer Stays Hot as Conference Play Approaches

Springdale, Ark.-The Sterling College Lady Warriors continued their hot play in their final nonconference game before KCAC play begins. Sterling traveled to Ecclesia College to play their final game against the Royals coming away with a big 5-1 win. Sterling was in control from start to finish.

Sterling scored their first goal just six seconds into the match. Francesca Vilca pushed the ball ahead to Emorie Sautter who found the back of the next right out of the gate. Sterling scored again just a couple minutes later as Dakota Reid found Jessica Gautreau, Sterling's season goal leader, to give Sterling an early 2-0 lead.

Ecclesia was able to fight back scoring a goal in the thirteenth minute to cut the Warrior lead in half. It was not enough for the Royals as that would be their only goal of the day. Sterling tacked on another goal before the half was over when Te'a Guidie scored on a pass from Jauslyn Campos.

The second half was all Sterling as they scored two more goals in the final 45 minutes. Jessica Gautreau scored her second goal of the match on a pass from Rebecca Keeler and Jessica Chester scored her first goal as a Warrior with an unassisted goal in the 74'.

Sterling improves to 3-1 this season and begins conference play on Wednesday, September 13, at 2 pm. The game is the KCAC home opener against the Bethany College Swedes.
