Clason and Heskamp Earn All-KCAC Honors

WICHITA, Kan. — The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2023-24 KCAC Women's Basketball all-conference teams and award winners. Student-athletes were selected for all awards by vote of the KCAC head women's basketball coaches.

Tabor College took home the regular-season conference title for the third consecutive season, with a 21-1 record in conference play, as part of a 24-4 overall record. Shawn Reed, the Bluejays' head coach, was named the Lonnie Kruse Coach of the Year by his peers.

Tanea Sims of the University of Saint Mary was named the KCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year. Sims ranks third in the conference in points per game (16.1), third in the conference in rebounds per game (9.9), and second in field goal percentage (54.5%). She secured fifteen double-doubles in conference play, and let the Spires to the No. 2 spot in the KCAC in the final regular season standings.

Friends University, which finished third in the regular season standings, had several individual award winners. Taylor Jackson was named the KCAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year, and Lauren McIver was named the KCAC Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Year. Jackson leads the KCAC and is ranked third in the NAIA in blocks per game (2.5), and ranks second in the conference in defenisve rebounds (7.0). McIver averaged 10.2 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, and 4.7 assists per game. Her assists per game average is tied for 1st in the conference.

Kamie Jenkins of Evangel University earned the KCAC Women's Basketball Freshman of the Year honor. Jenkins averaged a double-double on the season, with 12.0 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game. She ranks second in the conference in rebounds per game, and fourth in field goal percentage (53.4%).
 

The following athletes were selected by the conference women's basketball coaches as All-KCAC First Team, Second Team, Third Team, Honorable Mention, Defensive Team, and Freshman Team.
