Warriors Get Last Reps Before KCAC Meet

Topeka, Kan. – A handful of Warriors went to Topeka, Kan. for the Washburn Open to put in some last minute work in preparation for the KCAC Conference meet in a couple of weeks. This was a highly competitive meet with schools present from DI, DII, NAIA, and JUCO levels.

Freshman Maurice Gray had a strong collegiate debut in the Triple Jump and Long Jump. He placed 12th, second amongst NAIA jumpers, in the Triple Jump with a distance of 13.77m (45' 2.25"). This jump was good enough for a Top 40 mark in the NAIA indoor season, and is currently 6th best in the KCAC this season. He also held his own in the Long Jump, placing 20th overall. His best jump was 6.62m (21' 8.75") which currently ties him for 5th in the KCAC this year.

Jessa Lee improved in the 800m with a season best 2:40.36. Others competing in this meet were Cedric Wilson, Jacob Bauman, and Delco Gonzalez, who made his debut appearance as well.

This was a final tune up meet befor ethe KCAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 12th and 13th in Omaha, Neb. The Sterling College team is scheduled to have 9 athletes compete in this meet.
