Warriors Make Presence Known at ITF KCAC Championships

Wichita, Kan.-The Sterling Indoor Track and Field team may be small in number but make their presence known when they compete. Over the weekend they traveled to the Heskett Center on the campus of Wichita State University to compete in the KCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The women's team brought home 6 individual titles on their own.

Corrssia Perry continued her success over the weekend. In the 60 Meter Dash, her time of 7.66 seconds met the A standard national time, won the event and it is the fastest anyone has run in that event in the history of the KCAC Championships. In the 200 Meter she ran a time of 24.67 seconds, winning the event, meeting the national A standard and breaking her own record set last year by a tenth of a second. She also won the 400 Meter sprint with a time of 58.14 seconds. This time is also an A standard qualifying time for the Indoor National Championships in Brookings, S.D. Perry runs in three events and completed the sweep.

Sydney Wilson, newcomer and Wichita State University transfer, brought additional success in the 60M Hurdles. Her time of 8.91 seconds is tops in the conference meet and is good enough to be an "A-cut" qualifier for nationals. Wilson also had success in her two field events. In the Long Jump she took 1st with a personal best 5.53 meters which is a B standard distance. She also received 1st in the High Jump with a height of 1.68 meters with meets the mark for an A standard height for nationals.
