Warrior Men Lose in KCAC Quarters

Salina, Kan. – The men's tennis team had a successful season that was evidenced by the vast improvement over last season's record and taking the number four seed into the KCAC postseason tournament. Only the top six teams during the regular season make the postseason tournament. Sterling faced a Kansas Wesleyan team that they had beaten a few weeks earlier in a very tightly contested match, 4-3.

With time restraints due to moving the tournament indoors due to potential weather, time was at a premium. The matches were being concluded as soon as one team reached four points and the rest of the matches would conclude and be considered incomplete. Sterling ended up losing the match 4-0 this time around. The doubles point was dominated by KWU, and the singles matches were not as close as their first meeting this season. Below are the results of the match.

Doubles Competition

1. Ware/Phelps (KWU) def. Alexandre Gaboardi/David Garces (SC) - 6-1

2. Pedro Felipoff/Louis Boisdenghien (SC) vs. Sherer/Davalos (KWU) - DNF

3. Craft/Hanson (KWU) def. Robin Baransi/Abhyudi Nagar (SC) - 6-1

Singles Competition

1. Ware (KWU) def. Felipoff (SC) - 6-0, 6-2

5. Zack Hash (SC) vs. Craft (KWU) - DNF

Sterling finishes the year with a 9-7 record, 8-3 in the KCAC regular season which placed them tied for third by record. They earned the fourth seed in the tournament because they lost the tiebreak to Ottawa.
