Successful Senior Day for Warrior Tennis

Sterling, Kan. – The weather was crazy, but the Warrior tennis team was still able to enjoy and celebrate Senior Day with a pair of wins over the weekend. With snow starting just before the match started, the match was moved to Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson. Sterling's opponent was the Southwestern College Moundbuilders. The women's match was won by forfeit as changes in coaching personnel in recent weeks has shrunk their team and they did not have enough to complete a full match. The men ended up winning 7-0 in their competition.

The Sterling men faced five opponents on a smaller Southwestern College team. They took the two sets they needed for the doubles point, and the singles matches followed suit. SWC brought five players so Sterling received an automatic point in No. 6 singles. Sterling was dominant in all facets of the game, and only gave up ten points as a team in the seven matches that were played. Below are the scores.

Singles

Pedro Felipoff (SC) def. Hauska (SWC) (6-1, 6-3)
Louis Boisdenghien (SC) def. Monroe (SWC) (6-2, 6-0)
David Garces (SC) def. Johnson (SWC) (6-0, 6-1)
Zack Hash (SC) def. Claiborne (SWC) (6-0, 6-1)
Abhyudit Nagar (SC) def. Wanamaker (SWC) (6-0, 6-1)
Robin Baransi (SC) def. Default (SWC)

Doubles

Felipoff/Boisdenghien (SC) def. Hauska/Monroe (SWC) 6-1
Garces/Hash (SC) def. Johnson/Wanamaker (SWC) 6-0

With the regular season complete both Warrior teams turn their sights to the KCAC postseason tournament. For the first time since the Tennis program was reinstated at Sterling (the 2017-18 season), both teams have made the postseason tournament in the same year.

Sterling was also able to celebrate their two seniors Saturday afternoon. Rachel Carlson and Zack Hash were the honorees this season as they will close out their final season with a trip to the postseason tournament.
