Hash Makes Splash at Fall KCAC Championships

Lindsborg, Kan. – In a rain-shortened Fall KCAC Championship, Zack Hash found a way to make a splash for the Sterling College men's tennis team. Hash, who played number 6 singles for the Warriors made it to the championship match before being beat by the overall number 1 seed in the bracket.

Number 1 singles was played by Kamran Jones who was a fill in for that spot. Jones was given a 6 seed and fell in his first match 8-3.

Pedro Felipoff played in #2 singles and had the 8th seed in the bracket. Felipoff won the first match over the 9th seed, but fell in the next match to the top seed in the bracket.

Angel Marin had a solid start in #3 singles. Marin had the 7 seed and beat the 10th seed in the opening match, 8-2. Marin then dropped his next match to the 2 seed.

Playing #4 singles for the Warriors was Esteban Rocha. Rocha won his first match be default and then faced and lost the next match against the eventual bracket runner up.

Santiago Quintero won a play in 8/9 matchup by score of 8-4. That win earned him the right to play the overall #1 seed and eventual champion of the bracket.

Zack Hash was the 3 seed in #6 singles. Hash won his first match 8-3 over the 6 seed. His second match was against the 7 seed who previously upset the 2 seed. Hash ended up losing 8-5 in the finals to the #1 overall seed. Hash's second place finish was the best finish for the Warrior men in the tournament.

In doubles play, Jones and Marin played the #1 doubles bracket and lost in their opening match. #2 doubles was played by Felipoff and Hash. This duo was the 8 seed and they won their first match 6-0 over the 9 seed. They lost their next match to the top seeded team. Rocha and Blede played #3 doubles. They were the 6 seed and defeated the 11th seeded team 6-1. They fell to the 3 seed in the bracket.

Sterling heads to Newman University on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Jets.
