Warrior Tennis Competes Against Hendrix College and University of the Ozarks

The Sterling College tennis team were in action last week against Hendrix College and University of the Ozarks in nonconference matchups. The women and men would both fall to Hendrix College, however, the women pulled off a win against Ozarks but the men fell.

Women's Tennis vs Hendrix (2-7) L

The women played tough matches against Hendrix but only came away with one singles win. In singles No. 1 Rachel Carlson would fall (3-6, 6-2, 10-4), No. 2 Ana Paola Alvarez Diaz would win (6-3,6-3), No. 3 Camila Castro would fall (1-6, 3-6), No. 4 Brooklynn Kuhn would fall (6-2, 6-2), No. 5 Aubrey Anderson would fall (6-0, 7-6), No. 6 Kaylie Fenwick would fall (6-0, 6-1).

In doubles, the women would come up short only getting one of the three doubles points. No. 1 Dubs Alvarez and Castro would win (8-2), No. 2 Dubs Anderson and Carlson would fall (2-8), No. 3 Dubs Fenwick and Kuhn would fall (2-8).

Men's Tennis vs Hendrix (2-7) L

The men would struggle against Hendrix in difficult matches to fall against the Warriors. In single's No. 1 Antonio Paredes would fall (0-6, 2-6), No. 2 Pedro Felipoff would win (6-2, 6-3), No. 3 Angel Marin would fall (2-6, 6-3, 5-10), No.4 Esteban Rocha would fall (5-7, 6-2,7-10), No. 5 Santiago Quintero would fall (2-6, 6-0), No. 5 Hunter Lee would fall (3-6, 2-6).

Going into doubles the men met worthy opponenets and did not get any doubles points. No. 1 Dubs Paredes and Marin would fall (2-8), No. 2 Dubs Felipoff and Rocha would win (8-9,8-6), No. 3 Dubs Blede and Hash would fall (0-8).

Women's Tennis vs The Ozarks (7-2) W

The women would dominate in matches against the Ozarks to come away with the victory for the Warriors. In singles No. 1 Rachel Carlson would win (6-1, 7-2,10-8), No. 2 Ana Alvarez would win (6-3,6-3), No. 3 Camila Castro would win (5-7, 6-3,10-7), No. 4 Brooklynn Kuhn would win (6-3, 6-2), No. 5 Aubrey Anderson would fall (2-6, 1-6), No. 6 Kaylie Fenwick would fall (1-6, 0-6).

In doubles, the women battled hard and end up getting all three doubles points. No. 1 Dubs Alvarez and Castro would win (8-6), No. 2 Dubs Anderson and Carlson would have a walkover (Ret) (4-1), No. 3 Dubs Fenwick and Kuhn would win (8-2).

Ana Paola Alvarez Diaz's performance over spring break earned her KCAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her 4-0 efforts over spring break.

Men's Tennis vs The Ozarks (3-6) L

The men would struggle against the Ozarks in hard matches to fall against the Eagles. In singles No. 1 Antonio Paredes would win (6-1,6-2), No. 2 Pedro Felipoff would fall (3-6, 4-6), No. 3 Angel Marin would win (6-2, 7-5), No.4 Esteban Rocha would win (6-3, 6-1), No. 5 Santiago Quintero would fall (2-6, 6-1), No. 5 Hunter Lee would fall (6-7, 2-6).

Going into doubles the men would struggle and would not any the doubles points. No. 1 Dubs Paredes and Marin would fall (4-8), No. 2 Dubs Felipoff and Rocha would fall (5-8), No. 3 Dubs Blede and Hash would fall (2-8).
