Warrior Swim Competes at KCAC Championships

Fremont, Neb.-The Men's and Women's swim teams traveled to Fremont, Nebraska for the KCAC Conference Championship Swim Meet over the weekend. The three day event covered individual events, relays, sprints, and distance swims. Within the KCAC there are some very strong teams that should compete well at the National Championship in Columbus, Ga. the first week of March. The top two teams for both the Men's and Women's championships were Olivet Nazarene University and Bethel University (Indiana), respectively. The Warrior Men took 7th place overall and the Lady Warriors slid into a 6th place finish out of nine teams.

For the men, Jared Price had a solid weekend making his way to the podium in two events. He finished in 6th in the 200 breast and 8th in the 500 free. Jonah Lugo had a solid swim in the 200 fly and finished 8th overall.

On the women's side, Sydney Schmidt highlighted her events for the Warriors. Schmidt earned two 1st place finishes in the 50 free and 100 free. She also had a podium finish in the 100 fly finishing 2nd. She currently has the best time in the NAIA for the 100 fly, 3rd best time in the 50 free and the 7th best time in the 100 free and will likely compete in all three events at Nationals. Nicole Ashford had a pair of 7th place finishes in the 100 breast, and 200 breast and will have to wait and see if she will be a national qualifier again this year. Other podium finishers were Erica Frescott and Nicole Sierra, both in the 400 IM. They finished 6th and 8th respectively.
