Warrior Swim Competes in Only Home Meet of the Season

Hutchinson, Kan.-The Sterling College swim teams competed in a home dual that will be their only home meet of the season. The meet was held in the Hutchinson YMCA.

The meet was a scoreless dual against the University of Saint Mary. Sterling was able to finish with 8 first place finishes in the 22 events. By the number of participants, many of the events had the Warriors outnumbered 2-1 and 3-1 in almost every event. Sterling held their own and even his some provisional qualifying times.

Sydney Schmidt hit provisional times in the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly. Nicole Ashford was just over a second from the provisional pace in the 100 yard breaststroke. Jared Price needs to shave just 2 seconds off his 100 yard breaststroke.

Schmidt won the 50 free and 100 fly. Nicole Sierra finished first in the 200 Individual Medley and Nicole Ashford's near miss on the provisional time was good for 1st place in the 100 breast.

On the men's side, Wyatt Aumiller won the 50 free and 100 free. Jared Price finished 1st in the 100 free as well.

Sterling will compete in the KCAC Conference meet in Fremont, Neb. from February 1-3.
