STRONG SHOWING FROM WARRIORS AT KCAC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP SWIM MEET

Fremont, Neb.-Sterling College Swimming had a fantastic weekend in the pool at the KCAC conference championships. Over the three-day event, the Warriors had 28 personal records, set 8 personal best times, broke 2 KCAC records, and made national cuts in 7 separate events.

The PR's started in the Women's 500 Free. Erica Frescott set a personal best and a Sterling College record at 5:35.58 Y. In the Men's 500 Free, Jared Price (4.52.36 Y), Jonathan Wessel (5.15.44), and Jonah Lugo (5.16.17) all three also set personal bests. The Women's 50 Free saw four more personal bests go up as Katie Stucky (26.94 Y), Onelia Figueroa (30.60 Y), Elizabeth McCollom (30.98 Y), and Emma Wetz (33.85 Y) all swam well. Erica Frescott set a personal best (55.56 Y) in the Women's 100 Fly as well as Lugo in the Men's (56.53). Scout Perryman then swam a PR in the Men's 200 Free (2:01.29 Y). Wetz hit another PR in the Women's 100 Breast (1:27.74 Y) while in the Women's 100 Back McCollom (1:16.62 Y) and Figueroa (1:24.13 Y) both PR'd. In the Men's 100 Back, a 58.42 Y was a new PR for Wessel. Wetz set one more PR in the Women's 200 Breast at 3:13.38 Y. McCollom had one final PR in the Women's 100 Free at 1:08.60 Y as well as Perryman with a time of 53.82 Y.

Nissrine Bourbouh set a PR and a Sterling College record in the Women's 200 Back at 2:19.95 Y as well as Wessel in the Men's at 2:04.89 Y. Lugo hit a PR that changed the SC record books in the Men's 200 Fly at 2:07.57 Y. Sydney Schmidt's dominate season continued as well as she broke a school and KCAC record in the Women's 50 free at 23.99 Y.

Individual National Cuts included a Personal Record, School Record, and KCAC Record for Schmidt in the Women's 100 Fly at 55.56 Y (A cut), Price in both the Men's 200 free (also setting a school record) at 1:44.88 Y (B cut) and the 1650 Free (another school record) at 17:21.46 Y (B cut), Nicole Ashford in the Women's 100 Breast at 1:10.11 Y (B cut) as well as in the 200 Breast at 2:34.84 Y.

Multiple relays also made National cuts. The Women's 400 Medley (Bourbouh, Ashford, Schmidt, Frescott) came in at 4:05.11 Y and included a PR in the 100 Back by Bourbouh. The Women's 200 Medley (Bourbouh, Ashford, Schmidt, Frescott) qualified at 1:50.92 Y.

It was an overall great showing for the program which now turns its eyes towards the national stage as the NAIA National Championship Swim Meet will take place in Columbus, Georgia March 2nd-5th.
