Six Men's Soccer Players Earn KCAC Scholar-Athlete
WICHITA, Kan. – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) and Barnes & Noble College are pleased to announce that 117 men's soccer student-athletes have been named 2023 KCAC Scholar-Athletes. Barnes & Noble College is the official sponsor of KCAC Scholar-Athlete and Scholar Team awards, and is the official campus bookstore and course material provider of the KCAC.
Ottawa University leads the conference with 14 men's soccer athletes earning the Scholar-Athlete distinction. York University is right behind the Braves with 13 honorees. Three other institutions have ten or more honorees: Evangel University (11), the University of Saint Mary (11), and Tabor College (10). Avila University and Southwestern College each have nine scholar-athletes. Friends University has eight honorees, followed by McPherson College with seven. Bethany College, Bethel College, and Sterling College each have six honorees. Rounding out the list are Kansas Wesleyan University and Oklahoma Wesleyan University, which have four and three scholar-athletes, respectively.
The All-KCAC Scholar-Athlete Academic Award recognizes excellence in the classroom by KCAC member student-athletes who:
- are sophomores or above in academic standing at the beginning of the semester in which they compete.
- carry a minimum 3.250 cumulative GPA at the beginning of the semester in which they compete.
- student-athletes must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at the KCAC institution to be eligible.
