Warriors Shocked By Falcons in Wichita

Wichita, Kan. – The Warrior men's soccer team met a very strong defense out of the Friends University Falcons Saturday night and took a 3-0 loss.

Friends got on the board early and scored in the 9th and 20th minutes and turned to their defense to finish things off. Sterling was not able to push through the Falcon defense and make a productive run for most of the night. Friends tacked on a security goal in the 75th minute to make it 3-0.

Mateus Lara had 3 shots, one on goal and Jonathan Torres had 2. The Warriors were outshot 21 to 8 in the loss and were doubled up in corner kicks, 6 to 3.

Sterling is now 8-4-1 (5-2-1) this season and face good competition with postseason implications. Wednesday afternoon, the Warriors face Kansas Wesleyan as the two teams are currently in a neck-and-neck battle for 3rd place in the KCAC. Sterling follows up the Wednesday match with a Friday match against Southwestern College. Both games start at 3 pm at the Sterling College soccer field.
