Warriors Stay Hot; Win Streak at 3

York, Neb. – The Warrior men's soccer team continued their winning ways Wednesday afternoon at York University. Sterling came from behind to win the match 2-1.

The Warriors were aggressive in the first half recording seven shots, unfortunately unable to put anything in the net. York's Matias Madriaga was the only player to find a goal in the first half. His goal came in the 39th minute. Sterling trailed at the half 1-0, but were not out of the match.

Sterling came out strong in the second half, recording goals in the 56th and 62nd minutes. Both goals came from Ruben Guzman. The Warriors took the lead at 2-1 and never gave it back. Sterling was able to outlast the York offense to come away with the win.

Guzman recorded both goals with Angel Jimenez-Cortez recording the assist on the first goal. Sterling outshot the Panthers 15-13, but York had the edge in corner kick opportunities, 4-3. Sterling has now won three straight improving their record to 6-2 overall. They are 3-0 in KCAC play setting them on the top shelf with Oklahoma Wesleyan and Kansas Wesleyan as the only undefeated teams in conference play.

The Warriors travel to Avila University Saturday to take on the Eagles. Things are scheduled to kickoff at 3:30 pm. Avila is currently 2-5-1 (1-1-1) heading into Saturday's competition.
